APPEARANCE AND PHYSICAL PROPERTIES.
OSB is made of 0.6 mm thick, 20 mm wide and 93 mm long strands. Using a special manufacturing technique, the strands are oriented and then layered in three layers. The strands on the surface lie parallel to the long side of the panel. The strands in the middle layer are arranged perpendicular to the strands of the outer facing layers. The oriented strands ensure good material properties particularly in the longitudinal direction. The result is an anisotropic material. As with all layered composite wood materials the panel has different mechanical properties depending upon the direction of the strands in the outer facing layers.
